Laser hair reduction at Puttur Skin Clinic
Treatment with a triple wavelength diode laser is available at our clinic in Bolwar, Puttur. A consultation with the dermatologist comes first, and he decides the plan for your skin and hair.
Consulting dermatologist: Dr. Sachin Manohar Shetty, M.B.B.S., M.D., iFAAD
How laser hair reduction works
Shaving, waxing and threading remove hair at or above the skin surface. The root stays active, so hair regrows within days to weeks.
The diode laser delivers light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and carried down to the root, where it turns to heat. Over a course of sessions, treated follicles grow finer, lighter hair and growth reduces.
Only hair in its active growth phase responds in any one session, which is why several sessions are needed. The number depends on the area, the thickness of the hair and your skin. Results vary, and some hair can regrow.

Areas that can be treated
- Face, including upper lip, chin and jawline
- Underarms
- Arms
- Legs
- Bikini area
Other areas can be discussed at your consultation. The doctor advises which areas are suitable for you.
Preparing for a session. Shave the area about a day before. Avoid waxing, plucking, threading and epilating for 3 to 4 weeks before a session, because the hair root needs to be intact. The clinic confirms the exact instructions when you book.
Things to know before you decide
As with any laser treatment, temporary redness, swelling or itching can occur. Blistering, burns and changes in skin colour are possible, especially if instructions are not followed. Results vary from person to person, some hair may regrow, and a further session may be advised later. Treatment is not suitable for everyone. The dermatologist assesses suitability and explains the risks at the consultation.
